Organisation
Overall direction of the Centre is the responsibility of Dr Tom Frenkiel, the head of the Centre.
Instrument time is allocated by an Advisory Committee appointed by the Molecular and Cellular Medicine Board of the MRC. The Advisory Committee also provides strategic guidance to the head of the Centre. Allocations of time are made for periods of one year, on the basis of progress reports and applications submitted by existing or prospective users. The current members of the committee are Professors S.W. Homans, S.E. Radford, J. P Waltho, and Dr T. Frenkiel (ex-officio chairman).
A Users Committee with representatives from every user group meets annually to discuss operational and technical matters.
The Centre's operation and performance are reviewed annually by the external members of the Advisory Committee and quinquennially by the Molecular and Cellular Medicine Board.
Dr Jim Feeney was the Centre Controller from its inception in 1980 until his retirement in 2001. He is now a visiting worker at the Centre.
